Senior Year Schedule

Ok guys it might be a little early to do this but i'm currently a junior in HS and i'm already thinking about what my schedule should look like for next year i'm just a little conflicted and I guess this is why i'm posting this but i'm not sure wether or not I should take a science since by the end of this year i'll already have taken 4 sciences (living, earth, physics and chem) but anyways here's my projected schedule:

AP English 12 (language and composition, i think that's what it's called)
AP US Government
AP Psychology
SUPA French (equivalent of AP since my school doesn't offer AP French)
SUPA Presentational Speaking (maybe)
Algebra 2/Trig
Gym (this is a requirement)
Health (this is a requirement, i've never been able to fit it in previous schedules)

If this schedule works to plan then I will have taken 7 AP's, 9 if you count the SUPA classes. My previous APs include AP World, AP Art, APUSH, and AP Literature.

8.5/10

Can you elaborate on that, what should I lose/what should i add

Can’t lose Gym/Health since it’s a requirement, right?

What’s Presentational Speaking?

Can you replace AP Psych with anything else? I mean, you’re taking Gym and Health, so yea…

Are Gym and Health semester classes or year-long classes?

Ask if you can take gym or health online. A lot of schools let you do this, and it would let you take 1-2 more AP’s.

In my school if you are in a sport or band you don’t have to take PE. Are you in a sport or band?
Algebra 2 Senior year why??? You should be taking at the very least Precalc or even Calculus.

“You should be taking at the very least Precalc or even Calculus.”

Yeah I am really questioning this. From the looks of it, his/her high school doesn’t seem to be in an area where algebra I wasn’t offered in Middle school, but even if it wasn’t he should at least be in Pre Calc.

Math isn’t my strong point and i’m looking to go into International Relations which is why there is such a strong social studies presence in my schedule. Gym is a full year every other day course and health is half a year, i’ll see if i can fit in another class. Presentational Speaking is what the name suggests, and a lot of graduated seniors I know have said that the class helps a lot and colleges are impressed when a student takes it, it’s still iffy though. I live in New York so the highest diploma we can get is called a regents diploma and the only other thing i need to obtain it is to take Algebra 2/Trig I also have to take and pass the regents for it.

If my GC sees a problem within the schedule I might consider doing AP photography to show more of a demonstrated interest of art to schools I apply to since i have a knack for art and this year i’ll be finishing a two year AP art class or maybe i’ll consider adding on Spanish level I in my schedule though i’m not sure what help that would be since I would rather focus of French and other languages in college.

Why are you in Algebra II as a senior? At the most that should be a Junior year requirement.

Ok i should explain more… my school offers Int. Algebra which is what i’m in now, I have already taken algebra and geometry so my counselor suggested i take int. this year and then continue on with algebra 2/ trig next year, this may seem strange but it’s perfectly normal in my school as a lot of kids choose this option since our math classes are rigorous and the level after algebra 2/ trig are all AP’s. I’m not planning to attend MIT nor do anything remotely close to math in college. Also this should help bump up my GPA a little since i just ended the quarter with a 98.

Some schools require you to have 4 years of math or you won’t get in. Int. Algebra sounds like Algebra 2 tbh.

@UC6792‌ Int. Algebra isn’t Algebra 2 at all. The level of difficulty, material, depth and breadth is much much much much more different then your average algebra 2 course.

Okay, but precalc would be a better choice to take than Int. Algebra tbh.

you’re fine.

No Int. Algebra is way different, it’s not a repeat course I promise, it’s the algebra component of Algebra 2/trig that’s why it’s suggested to take so i’ll have better foundation for trig next year. thanks for the input everyone!

bump

I took intermediate algebra during my senior year. I’m going to a community college now  oh and I hated the regents had to take the common core last year. Class of 2014 btw
