I want to major in either engineering or math. I’m currently in AP Lang and AP Seminar as part of the AP Capstone Program and was wondering if it would be worth it to sacrifice one of my major-oriented courses next year (math/ science) to continue this program and take AP Research. Have any of you guys taken/ are taking AP Research and can you tell me how rigorous it is/ how colleges see it/ if it’s worth taking overall?
I’m not familiar with AP Research but it seems rather iffy to take fewer math/science courses than you are able. That said, as long as you don’t miss out on calculus and calculus-based physics as a result then maybe it’s not a big deal.
Check your intended college for HS course requirement and AP credit policy. Some of the ap courses on your post sounds useless to me for Engineering. You better take other challenging but relevant courses.
Not if it replaces any math/physicis. Take all the math and physics you can swallow. Most students do not enter an engineering program with research experience. You can get research experience once you are in college by networking with professors who are doing it in the areas you are interested or through REUs in the summer.
