I don’t mind the question so much as long as my mom’s not with me. I’ll say where I’m going, and she’ll be all: AND she got an $8,000/year scholarship and only x amount of kids out of 20,000 got into her major.

I really hate when my mom brags about me when I’m around. It makes me feel awkward.

I hate the major question. “What’s your major?” “French.” “What are you going to do with that other than teach?” “Umm. I don’t know, but I might change it.” “To what?” “Theater or film?” “Oh… What can you do with those?” “I don’t know.”

^That conversation gets played over and over like …every day. I know where I’m going to college.

I usually respond with “I’m still waiting on decisions from 12 schools.” There’s this one teacher in my school who HAS A SON WHO’S A SENIOR, yet she asks me every time she sees me if I know where I’m going to college. Every day I respond with “I don’t find out my optionss until the end of March.”

I applied to 5. Got into 3, waiting on the other 2, one of which is my choice school. Soo nervous. I just tell people where I got into, and my safety in case I don’t get into my #1. I don’t find it annoying at all when people ask.

UVAorBust, don’t feel bad about going to community college. Over 30% of my school that is going to college is going to our local community college, and quite a few others are going to a community college in a city nearby. Community college is a great option for a lot of students, and not just B and C students either.

YES!!! They are! And it’s really annoying. Even parents whose kids just went through the process in the past two or three years who KNOW that many people don’t know till April 1st. And the same people ask me OVER and OVER again! My response is the same every time: “I won’t know until about April 1st.” They smile and say, “OK,” but they like 1 week later, then ask AGAIN, “So… do you know where you’re going to college yet?” Ugh!
