What are you planning on writing your essay about?

I personally have no clue. They say to write about something that's close to your heart or whatever... but I don't really have a niche. I'm so confused.

What are you planning on writing your essay about?

I personally have no clue. They say to write about something that's close to your heart or whatever... but I don't really have a niche. I'm so confused.

I think I’m going to write about my experience with the band. It’s more unique than it sounds, but I’m having a hard time conveying that.

Mine’s about how hard it is for me to put my thoughts in writing, and how it’s easiest for me to do it through poetry. That came out of a conversation with my mom about how frustrated I was that I couldn’t write an essay. HAHA.

Even if you don’t have a niche, per se, there has to be something that’s close to your heart. What do you think about most often? What’s your best memory? What do you spend most of your time doing? (Obviously, some of these things aren’t really app-friendly though…I spend most of my time sleeping or on the computer ) But still, try talking to a friend or something - it might help the ideas flow. One of my friends was on Skype with me for like two hours sorting out his ideas, but now he’s pretty much set.

Personally, I say that if you’re lost for ideas, then you should just write. Literally, just write or type out whatever is on your mind. That’s how I figured out my essay topic.

I remembered something pretty trivial, typed it out, saved it to a Word document, came back to it a few days later and found a brilliant (or what I thought was a brilliant) connection between that memory and a problem in the real world that was very personal to me. Thus, my common apps essay was born.

Remember that your essay should reflect something about you. Whether it’s a cause you believe in, a typical day in your life, or someone that you look up to, the possibilities are quite literally endless.

Don’t knock it till you try it–it really does work.

Cheers.

I don’t know. :/

Meh… My problem is that I have things that I care about… but nothing that I’m …passionate about.

Like… My sister… she has autism and it pretty much has altered my life incredibly… but every time I sit down and try to write about it… it ends up being about her and not connecting to me at all.

I have no flipping idea what I’m going to write… sigh

Maybe you could write about how she inspires you.

Personally, I have no idea whatsoever.

If I could do it all over again, I would write about taking a dump.

My common app essay was on taking a shower. It was alright.

Oh Lord, I have no idea. I keep coming back to … my perceptions about home, how my move (5 years ago - is it too long?) influenced me, and weird ideas about masala dosas :S

^Oh my god, I love masala dosas. :D
