Pingus, I interviewed December 18th and had a voice message left on my cell on January 8th. I was overseas during the break and didn't find out untill I go back into the US and called them back last week.

wfbanker08 - wake forest university - corp. finance

just got placed at goldman sachs fig

....just kidding about the last part

So I submitted my resume again like they wanted me to and they sent me back a "revised" one. Very unimpressed with the changes they made, did this happen to anyone else?

Yea same here about the resume...

I hate bullets on a Resume but now every single part of my resume has bullets :-(

Do we have to go with what they "recommend" because I really thought the resume I submitted was amazing.

I thought and still think my is amazing.

I think we have to go with the recommend one....w/e.........I figured I don't want to be the problem intern since firm placement hasn't happen yet. Stay on their good side.

It's just that the resume doesn't make sense at all now when you look at it. It's very upsetting, doesn't seem to flow as well as mine does. I know what you mean, just seems like the way they set it up won't get me in anywhere ya know?

Pingus, My son interviewed in Boston on 1/31 (I think) and heard back yesterday--Acceptance! I hope you hear favorably as well!

Thanks for the response, buzzwick. What program did your son get accepted into? With whom did he interview?

I interviewed on Feb 1st (thought the interview went very well). If I didn't hear back yesterday, does anyone know if that bodes poorly for me? Do admitted candidates only get notified on Fridays or am I reading too much into this? Any feedback would be appreciated

Pingus, my son did not get the interviewers' business cards--but it was one female and 2 males who interviewed him. They told him it would be 2 weeks before he heard a decision, so I would be hopeful if I were you. I'm thinking they are just beginning to make phone calls. My son received a phone call telling him to check his email around 5pm last Friday. Good Luck!

Does anyone know around what time last year people were informed of their placements?

Part of me says soon based upon the e-mail that was sent about apps to partner firms, but somewhere else I read near the end of May.

An SEO alum got theirs April 4th one year, although I have a feeling it will be earlier this year.

My money is on the second week in March!!! (I figure SEO needs time to 1) make sure everyone has reviewed their partner sections 2) Select interns to partners 3) Inform respective HR dept about their placements 4) recheck everything 5) and finally call everyone?? Or email I guess.

despite what is said on here, i think the firms actually make their selections from seo's book of resumes. hence the e-mail today asking that we submit updated ones.

i don't like not having any say in the firm that i end up with. all of my friends already know where they'll be, and are actually in contact with their future co-workers.

I have never heard this type of selection process. You could be right since its a secret how its done and no one knows. I would still wonder what would happen to an applicant that no one wanted?

I still like the more common idea of selection. I believe the SEO book of resumes is used after SEO places you in a firm since each firm's HR needs to take you and place you within a specific group in their firm. I know at some banks they have a draft with regular and SEO interns in a pile and they go around the room and each team selects their interns. I know I m there with you but I heard SEO interns get selected last. (I know some banks that do this format of placement but not all)

btw last year they found out the first week of april! I hope its sooner!

Has anyone started looking for housing? I was going to wait until they place us.. Is that what everyone is doing? My friends are all signing up for housing since they know where they will be working.

i wouldn't wait...NYU goes quick, i've heard that it fills up within 2-3 weeks- the apps opened up last week, so apply as soon as possible.

Thanks giob70, I will look into it. I just found out that if you get an interview but don't get an offer from a firm, you eliminate your chances of being placed there. If they reject you, SEO cannot place you there anymore. Risky. I am glad I decided not to go to a few interviews..!

I spoke to a recruiting rep at one of the partner firms late January and was told that they were already working with SEO for intern placements. So I'm pretty sure there is much that we don't know about the proces..

Also, if you get rejected by a firm whether it is for 1st round, 2nd round, final round, etc, the firm won't want you placed there. I've had several lengthy conversations with the SEO staff about this (I am definitely the "problem intern"). They advised me to cancel all my interviews, which is what I ended up doing.

Has anyone been admitted, or know of someone who has, in the last week? If I haven't heard from them by now, should I assume I was rejected/wait listed? The notification deadline is February 22nd.

Pingus, did you have a 2nd phone interview yet? I'm excited to hear their decision. I feel like it has been an eternity since 12/15.
