Separate Timers not allowed????

Hey guys I have a question regarding whether or not we are allowed to bring a timer to the test. The thing is I got a e-mail from Collegeboard about the test and stuff and one of the things they said was this:

"Locate a watch to take with you. You can use a watch that has no audible alarm to time yourself—separate timers are not allowed."

What bothers me is the part where it says "separate timers are not allowed."
I mean does this mean we can't take devices with the timer/countdown function only?

Anyone who has had experience with this please answer.

Thanks!

i think you could use a watch with a timer on it (i mean how is anyone going to know anyways), but you can't bring one thats audible because they dont want it to disturb other people

Yeah, I know you can bring a silent watch but the timer I have doesn't have time function of it and it is just strictly a timer so when I saw "separate timers are not allowed" I thought it meant timers like mine aren't allowed.

The timer that I have is made by Polder and doesn't have clock functions. It can only stand on the desk and can not be worn. It is silent and it's alarm is just a red flashing light.

I'm wondering...am I allowed to bring this kind?

I've read a lot of places that constantly checking the timer is good, but, personally, I do better without it. If I'm on the last problem and the timer says 45 seconds I just freeze up. If I have three reading questions left and 3 minutes 30 seconds left, I'll be thinking about how far behind I am while I'm reading the last paragraph, rather than actually focusing on the paragraph!

Just use your watch. It may not be precise, but that kind of precision can screw you up.

^ im the opposite, if im constantly wondering how much time i got left, and if im halfway through, i know how much to pace myself...but unfortunately i dont got a digital watch with timer on it only got a analog one but thats kinda useful lol

dumb question i know but..i have a digital watch but I don't want to wear it on my wrist...can i put the watch down on the desk and use it? Wearing the watch impairs my concentration..

I'm not bringing a watch/timer at all. There's always a big clockface in the test room... another one on my wrist or right on my desk would just be like BAM. In my face.

Besides, the proctor always announces when 5 mins are left. So it's not like you're going to have no idea what pace you're at or need to be.

Olay, I've got the same crazy problem. Yea ur allowed 2 put it down...
I'm used to taking practice tests with my analogue watch timer so i think i'll take it in the test...

Lol, I'm a freaken perfectionist and for some reason I have to see how much time I have left exactly. Maybe because I'm a Math person.

My dad finally found a watch that doesn't beep but vibrates. Woot! 2400 Woot! Lol I wish!
