September 2010 ACT Math Discussion

rise/run money was the y and screens was the x. essentially, it was asking for how the slope was created

What about the negative question?

I got -(xy)/((X^2) + (Y^2))

@fisa, so what was the answer? y was money and x was screens. Was it the amount of money increasing per screen? That’s what I said first.

^That’s right

@jde that’s the answer, you said you put money per movie which is wrong, but if really put money per screen, you got it right. It was answer choice A

I put the one that was logically correct. I don’t see how screens per money would make sense.

I initially said that too. Money per screen=gg

area of sector one?

Wasn’t it about 25? I mean, if each sector is equal area, all you need to do is make sure the pi are squared, and then divide them into 8 equal pieces.

Another one. The elevator was at 0 and 2, they were the same speed, yeah? That one almost seemed too easy.

I had no idea for that elevator question. Thinking about it I don’t even think I put an awnser for that. Do you remember the awnser to that question.

Yeah, it said one elevator moved at a speed of 2t and the other at t^2. It asked when they were going the same speed, yeah?

it was 0 and 2. you set 2t equal to t squared, and then using the quadratic formula get 0 and 2, both of which fit in the domain.

Or, you can just use logical thinking, haha. Orrrrrr you could graph them and find the intersect (which I did).

can someone make a consolidated list?

again…

What about the negative question?

I got -(xy)/((X^2) + (Y^2))

lol well i have the quadratic formula on my calc so it took like 5 sec=)

^^^ Are sure there was a choice “0 and 2”?

Yes, i am. 0 and 2 ftw.

Ohh yes!!! I got that 0 and 2 one right

whythehell i put only 2???

Dang it, I’m blanking out. Could someone please elaborate on the trapezoid problem where the answer is supposedly 24?
