September 2010 ACT Math Discussion

I put A for the movie slope

i was almost certain it was a but i need some backup from you guys…my 36 is on the line with this lol!!! and the geometric one was def circle

^It was definitely A.

what movie slope are you guys talking about

What was the answer for the one that was asking for the longest side of the given triangle? It was graphed and was not a right triangle.

^yep, i can confirm that it was definitely A…cuz slope=rise/run…so the rise represented the earnings vs. the run which represented the number of screens

what was A exactly for the movie question? I can’t remember if i picked it i think i chose money per screens or something similar to that

yeah i thikn i put what fisawalab did but i think that was lke choice C?

@webass it was sqroot of 40

sqrt 40 fasho

@ webass, it was the sq rt of 40. although it wasn’t a right triangle, the distance formula could be used to find the answer.

The movie slope was for questions 56 to 58 I think about the movies and the number of screens. The answer was the first one, where it was like “for 1 movie, the amount it makes goes up with the number of screens its shown at”.

webass it’s the sqrt(40).

oh k then i was right thanks mass

The shortest side of the scale triangle was 5?

Don’t tell me that movie slope one was A…lol oh nooo. I put E. it like was 1 screen per movie vs. earnings in millions or someting

Answers so far:

sin x
Circle
10(1.12)^t
(x+3)^2+(y-4)^2=64
1 west, 1 north
46 degrees
sqrt(40)
28%
Quadrant 3
55 degrees
51 blocks
14, 26, 26
16 seconds
$10 per t-shirt
7.5
slope with movies: A

I put all these and there’s seems to be a consensus on them. What did you guys get on the one that said: “For all negative values of x and y, which of the following is always negative?” I recall putting e, which had something like -(x)(y)/x^2+y^2

The answer with the tank and water being poured into it. I got 5"

Iphone yes that’s right. It was scaled by 1/3

NJJETSFAN all of the answers were really wordy, but only the first one was correct.

I agree with linger and soccerryan on that E.

what question was the one with 16 seconds?

btw when is the earliest to get your scores back w. writing portion?

@ iphonehacker, yes it was 5 cuz the smallest side oif the scale triangle was 3 times less than the smallest side of the original (15)
