^ Agreed. The answer is not very clear and I can see the arguments for all three sides. I would say prideful is the most correct, because the question was asking for that one little bit, and I don’t think you were supposed to go into the other parts like ^^^^ he did. I can see the argument for reliant as well, but I think reliant was put there as a distractor.

I can see an argument for prideful and concerned. Reliant seems to vague to be the answer. However, in the context of the lines stated in the questions, i think prideful was the correct answer.

Just because something is stated after something else, doesn’t mean the second thing is caused by the first thing. I do see, however, how the passage could be interpreted to mean that the brothers were worried about the readings of the government tools. In my interpretation, there was no concern. They simply mentioned the “official reading by the United States” to explain the “twentyseven-mile gale” that was mentioned previously in the sentence. It’s clear that we agree to disagree, and even though most people here take my side, doesn’t mean that my side is right. We’ll just have to see what ACT thinks is the best answer.

What was the answer to the cause/effect question in the last passage?

It’s called “fluid sentence structures” for a reason.

question: what was the answer to the question in the passage about diaries where they ask about his aunt? she is mentioned ONCE in the passage as far as I can tell and the question asked what influenced her to write her diary or something???

^ I think I know which one you’re talking about. Was it the one that was like… which of these is NOT the reason why she wrote her novels? I remember at first not seeing the NOT, so I only remember the wrong answer choices… which were she wanted to escape the boredom of her life and it was in the passage, so I didn’t choose that one…

uhh

actually never mind, I don’t remember all the choices.

I think it was the choice about reading.

Does anyone know the answer to the cause/effect question in the last passage? I think I chose something about “the opening of a land bridge”

^nope. It was the thing about snow and ice covered on the continent. You should really look through these threads again. Most of the questions coming back up have already been answered. This is beginning to waste people’s time.

^ Ignore him. What else is this thread going to be used for anyway.

GAAAAAAAAAH I didn’t have time to do one passage! Stupid ACT time restraints! I randomly guessed on like 5-7 questions. Hope I get the rest of the questions correct.

Ignore me? The point of this thread is to discuss and come on a general consensus of all the answers to the questions we can remember. Once that is done, this thread will be useless.

The way I see it, the point of this thread is to discuss or help people or whatever. If someone comes along and doesn’t have time to read all 25+ pages to see if their question has been asked before, I’m not going to blame them. If you’re annoyed by people asking repeat questions, then ignore them.

Message received!

^ lol okay

Anyway, why didn’t the aunt send off her novels in the journal passage? I remember the question was, which ones of these did the passage NOT address. I didn’t remember reading anything about why the aunt did not send off her novels, but someone said that it was in the passage why she didn’t. Why didn’t she and what was the correct answer to that question?

^^ yes i need a response for that question to i guessed some random answer .

The question was which one of these did the passage NOT address about why the aunt wrote journals?
The answer was that she love to read novels.

^ I am pretty sure I’m asking about a different question. I am certain that I chose “the aunt loved to read novels” as one of my answers.

Or maybe I chose “why she didn’t send off her novels” and then changed it to “the aunt loved to read novels”

^no im pretty sure it’s the same question.
