Is it true that the ACT determines the curve BEFORE students actually take the test?
@maaz97 No, usually curves are based on student performance.
What is the maximum the curve could be? Like what if in a section the least amount someone got wrong out of all the test takers was 3. In this case, would getting 3 wrong be a 36?
I can’t wait 3 weeks to get my score. I need it now. Anyone else feel like that? lol
For most people, you will only have to wait 10 days. Which is still a lot.
@16jpatel yep. The harder the test, the easier the curve.
@16jpatel My proctor said 5-8 weeks for scores, but in June I got my scores 10 days after! And the ACT website says Sept 25th… So confused!
I think it is 10 days
@aznboi4981 oh the proctors will always say like 5 weeks. But for the majority of the people who aren’t international will get them on the date the act list which is usually in 10 days but idk it might be longer because of the changes.
Don’t worry about the 5-8 weeks thing. The scores (multiple choice) are almost always available the first day it says online (September 25th). The writing usually comes a couple of weeks after the multiple choice scores. On the April and June 2015 ACT dates, I got my score back right at midnight on the date it said online.
Okay, that’s what I thought! I got my scores on midnight, ten days after the initial test date. I suppose with the newly implemented changes it will take 13 days instead of 10!
That’s pretty intense @EcSkater
Form 73D here. Here’s what I thought about the test (this was my 3rd time):
English: Insanely easy, even compared to my March ACT which I made a 36 on. Finished in 20 minutes. There won’t be much of a curve on this one.
Math: Hard. Guessed on ~15. Hoping for a good curve. This is always my worst section.
Reading: Average. I finished with a few minutes to spare. Some of the questions were pretty long/confusing.
Science: Average except for second to last prompt, which was impossible. I struggled with the timing, but overall pretty easy.
I had a 32 in March and I was hoping for a 34 on this test, but I doubt it’ll happen with that math.
73D
English: Pretty easy, I think. I took longer than I thought, and there was one question I lingered on for quite a bit. It’s probably just some grammar knowledge I lacked. Hopefully 36, but might be a 35.
Math: Not that hard IMO. It’s definitely harder than the practice sections I did, but I knew how to do all of them and finished with 20 minutes to spare. Probably a 36 if I didn’t accidentally look over something.
Reading: Almost didn’t finish. The dual passage was actually okay for me, but maybe it’s because prose passages interest me more. Humanities screwed me over, though. Hoping for at least a 34.
Science: I can usually finish science sections with about 5-8 minutes to spare. I barely finished this time, though, and had to guess on one problem I didn’t have time to calculate.
Am I the only one that thought that the double passage for Prose Fiction was not that hard? Like I was able to locate all of my answers from the passage. And the science was really easy for me too. Like the answers were blatantly in the passage/graphs. I’m just hoping I didn’t make any stupid/careless errors. fingers crossed
And also, do we get back our testing documents so that we can review them? Or do we have to separately request for the test from ACT?
Anyone else notice that there were like 4 questions on science in which you needed prior knowledge?
@clichescreenname It was one of the easier passages for me, too, along with the science one.
@clichescreenname I also thought the dual passage was easy.
@EcSkater Really? I must have messed up somewhere I thought there were 2.
