Service Academy Visits

CC has a new site. If any of you have info to post on recent college visits to any of the service academies, you may want to add your info to the board. Each of the service academies is included at this link.

How embarassing! The "date of HS graduation" doesn't go back far enough! :o

ROFL! :D

Poor Old man!

I put in a requisition for a walker and dentures this morning. ;)

WAMom68,

You win! You are the first to post your visit experience on any of the SA visit boards.

Yeah for me! I'm surprised I am the first...but then, I am usually the first of my family and friends to mail my Christmas cards too. :)

So USMA is the only service academy visited by anyone?

Our family just visited the Air Force Academy in July. Our daughter, who is a Junior in High School (but attends an "Early College" High School so she's actually in college) is VERY interested in the Academy. We thought a visit to the Academy would allow her to see up close and personal what she was "thinking" about.

I can say this: ALL my children want to go now! My son is currently an 8th grader and my littlest is only 7 and they were AMAZED to say the least about our visit.

I could go on and on about the visit. It seems that the academics are top-notch. We were allowed to see areas not usually offered for viewing since we had friends that currently teach there. So they met us and gave us an awesome tour. I find that I keep using the word "Awesome" to describe our time there. It was nice too in that the couple that showed us around both attended the Academy, were married there, and now both teach there. My daughter had the opportunity to hear a male and female perspective of being at the Academy.

Still, as a parent, it would be hard to swallow all of this if she gets in. But what kind of mother would I be if I didn't support her decision. She's set on it so we are doing all we can to support her. She has already been writing letters to our Congressional folks and just last week was invited to visit with our Congressman! She's only just now starting her Junior year but I think has done a great job in organizing herself to prepare to apply.

I just stumbled across this site and have found the information very helpful. I would be happy to answer any questions about our Academy visit--like I said, it was wonderful and if I were 17 again, I'd want to go myself!

Just make sure she's ready for the stuff they don't let you see on your "tours".
