Service Learning

Hi everyone!
I am currently working on an action research project for my sociology course. My partner and I are starting a public/community service center on campus. Currently, we're profiling schools with strong programs (we're at Illinois Wesleyan University by the way). Anyone know of any strong programs out there?
Thanks so much!

Start with the 25 Bonner Scholars schools: http://www.bonner.org/campus/bsp/home.htm
They are all about service learning.

The Pericles Project schools also stress service learning and involvement:

Finally, you may want to include a few of the work colleges: www.workcolleges.org, the ultimate service learning experience. :)

I don't believe that any school is better than Harvard's program. It's student run with it's own endowment. They have very ambitious programs including full-time urban summer camps in the Summer Urban Programs:

http://www.pbha.org/pbha/sup/

The Project Pericles idea is interesting. Founded by Eugene Lang, the underlying concept is that colleges should not only have community service programs, but should integrate service into the curriculum and the classroom. In other words, that colleges have a larger mission in educating their students to give something back.
