Service recommendations for Ann Arbor

For all you people that have lived on the UMich campus and what not, i was just wondering 2 things:

what is the most convenient bank with plenty of branches and atm’s on/near campus?

what is the best cell phone provider with the best reception in the area?

thanksssssssss!

UMich recommends TCF but National City and couple other ones have some branches around too. When you attend orientation, they will give you a flyer with all the info.

I had T-Mobile when I was there and it worked fine.

Verizon works great there. Also I have Chase bank and they have several ATMs close to campus within a 5 min walk.

where are the chase atms near campus? because at orientation my mom asked the tcf guy if there were any nearby, and he was like no, it's really inconvenient...maybe he was lying!

i have never even heard of tcf...
would there be any wachovia's around by any chance?

Regarding Chase, is it more convenient to stick with them instead of switching to TCF? I'd definately like to stick with Chase. A 5 minute walk isn't bad.

I had orientation a few weeks back and Verizon sucked when I was there. I'd say go with Sprint or Cingular, which seem to be the most dependable from what I've heard from others.

There are several Chase ATMs around campus. I can think of two right now, and one is a 2 minute walk from the UGLI.

I don't think there are any Wachovias...where are you from? (I thought Wachovia was only in Alabama.)

i'm from NJ. i heard from a umich friend that he prefers national city though. so i guess i'll get that.

Ah, ok. So I'm guessing that First Alabama bank turned into Regions turned into Wachovia because bigger banks bought it out. Makes sense.

I have sprint and it works great, I've heard a lot of students complain about verizon. I personally like TCF because they have atms right on campus (at the michigan union, on South U etc).
