Sexuality and College Essays?

Hey, I am thinking of ideas for my common application essay, and I was wondering whether sexuality is too risky? I came out in 9th grade in a typically anti-homosexuality school. This was very important to me, and really shaped who I am as a person. I cannot elaboate too much because my keyboard is messing up(took like 8 min. to write this.)

Well, it could work but imho you'll want to be very careful to make it personal and detailed, unique to you, and not a standard sort of "coming out" essay that could be written by many others in your situation.

There's good essay advice here:

Thanks. Yeah, I read that on another tread, and that is why I am asking. I know it is risky. It will be personal, not very personal, and by that I mean TOO much detail. I wrote my first draft several months ago, and I am only a 10 grader. I was awake at like one at night, in bed, when inspiration hit me. So, I got up and wrote around 500 words. I will get that first draft available in a few days, as soon as I find my flash drive, lol. So, I will PM to all who might be interested.

Oh, with you being in 10th grade, I'd consider setting the draft aside at an appropriate time and coming back to it periodically. You'll undoubtedly change in 11th grade and into 12th grade, and your essay will just naturally grow with you.

Yeah, I am not that obessed to go out and completly write it , just inspiration struck.

go ahead.

Write about what is important to you. Since this is something that is extremely important to you, I say go for it. People write well about what they care about. :)
