SFSU transfer portal confusion

Hello! I am a student currently at Chico state, I am a junior 3.2 GPA and applied to SFSU because I can’t stand Chico and miss home…anyways my application on the portal in student center says “apply for admission” but right next to it it says “My Applications” with my name, Undergrad Degree-FA 2016
No to-dos…
does anyone else have this?

Yes. There is a theory that community college transfer applicants with an impacted major are going to get their notifications late.

I have the same on my portal and I’m from SoCal. My friend who got in last year with an impacted major from my city found out April 20ish either way late April…

ah thats terrible I can’t wait that long because if I do and end up not getting in I will have no housing up here for next semester…

Are you trying to find out if you have been accepted or?

If you log into your SF State Gateway and go into your student center you can click on MAIN MENU on the top left and type in Accept Admission. When the results show up click on the first ling and it will tell you if you have been accepted and give you the option to accept or decline admission.

For all those transfer students still waiting on decisions and not seeing any ‘accept admission’ button on their portal, did you get an email about RSVP’ing to “Sneak Preview 2016”? If you did, then you were admitted. I looked on the website and it’s specifically an event for admitted SFSU students and their parents to come to the open house.

@boxandwhiskers I’m not sure if that’s correct. I received that email but never received any email regarding my admission or request for transcripts or anything. I think that email was sent out to everyone who was admitted or is still pending (anyone who hasn’t been denied yet).

@sdsuaztecs The SFSU website says from the Sneak Peek 2015, "The event is open to first-time freshmen and transfer students already admitted for fall.

Students will have the opportunity to accept offers of admission, discuss financial aid options and learn about the Summer Bridge Program, an eight-week session designed to helps students develop smart study habits and transition from high school to University life."

@boxandwhiskers Well if that’s true then it’s pretty strange that there’s nothing showing admission decisions on the portal. I’ll probably call Monday and ask

@sdsuaztecs I agree, I think it’s weird. My portal hasn’t changed and haven’t received a single email from them. CSULA was the same way, never got an official notice that I was admitted but at least the portal said I was admitted. Weird.

@boxandwhiskers and @sdsuaztecs hi i have the same problem as you guys. On the portal it doesnt say anything whether I am accepted or not and I also received a card from them through mail. I contacted one of the admissions specialist in SFSU and they said “Currently the status webpage is unable to display admission status. We apologize for the inconvenience.” But they also said “You will receive an admission email when the result is ready.”
So @sdsuaztecs did you call and find out anything?

@merink I emailed ugadmit@sfsu.edu and gave them my application number and asked in the email if I was accepted or denied and they told me that the Sociology department just decided on admissions and I was included in the list of students admitted. They told me that a formal letter and packet would come in the mail next week. I also looked at the portal (because it STILL doesn’t say anything) and searched under ‘Main Menu’ at the top, “Accept Admission” and it took me to a page that told me that I was admitted and gave me the option to deny or accept the admission offer, you can try doing that.
I have a feeling, from the email that I received, that they are releasing admissions by major and Sociology and other Social Science majors are just finding out now.

For SFU: Go to the Student Center. Click the “Main Menu” drop down at the top left corner. In the search box, type “Accept” then click enter. Then click the first search result that says “Accept Admission”. Good luck and I hope you got in! @milkroses
