hi! I'm planning to found Shakespeare Club at our school.
I'm generally interested in literature and Shakespeare,
but I dont really know how to lead this club,
like what to do during meetings and outside meetings.
I never led anything in my life :(
Can you guys give me some advices or informations
about what can be done in meetings, or about leading a club?
thanks!

stay organized!

First, make sure there will be a lot of active members. Find a teacher advisor who loves Shakespeare as much as you do (my school has an English teacher who makes his class keep separate Shakespeare folders, and another one who knows Macbeth verbatim).

Stuff you can do during meetings:
- Maybe you can vote on which play you want to do, practice it, and perform it for the school.
- Talk about Shakespeare’s life (which I find boring, but then again I’m not the greatest Shakespeare fan).
- Discuss his various plays like a book club would; analyze symbols and style (to do this, first decide on a play for the whole club to read together and have them read maybe a few scenes a week).
- Go to nearby Shakespeare events whenever possible.

About leading a club:
- Be energetic, optimistic, enthusiastic, and confident. Smile!
- Be knowledgeable about things relevant to whatever activity you are currently doing.
- If you tell the members to do something, do it yourself, too. Set an example. (If you go for book club-like meetings, you will probably have to start the discussion yourself, or the club will just sit there awkwardly for an hour or so.)
- Be open to suggestions from club members. They can have excellent ideas for fundraisers, community service, and other projects that you guys can work on.

Good luck!
After typing this post, I almost want to start a Shakespeare Club myself, lol!
