I realized in my current extra curriculars I don’t have any real leadership positions so I’ve been thinking about making a club for a little while and maybe it could be a creative writing, there could be coffee houses novel movie nights and other stuff. I have other plans for it too.
Any tips on making this a successful venture and not one of those clubs where people just sit around and do nothing
Is there a day where your school has a club fair? First things first is to have your club officially established at your school and choose one where it can cater to your high school audience. It’s important to create somewhat of a structured syllabus and/or guidelines of what to expect when joining the club and being able to execute on those things.
@travelersam85 They have a club fair at the end of the first month of school, I’d be sending in an application for the club to be accepted and made official by the school this year and next year it would ‘debut’ I guess
You are doing this backwards. Most things become successful because they fill an underserved need or do it better than the current method. The “need” you are trying to fill is your lack of leadership not the need for the club.
@Eeyore123 I’ve always wanted to create the club and have thought about it before I even thought about what college I wanted to go too, I never had the motivation, or knew how to do it. I just thought that since I don’t have any leadership qualities creating the club would be a good idea. but maybe your right, do you suggest I don’t go through with it then?
What I would do is see if there is interest. Talk to your friends. Talk to your english teacher (and maybe they could talk to other teachers) and see if they know of students who would be interested in such a thing. or if there is a Creative Writing class, ask if you can visit and see if people would be interested. If you can get some interest, talk to your GC about the process for starting a new club.
Alternatively, talk to your GC first and see if you can get an advisor and then advertise at the club fair to see if there is interest.
if this is something you think would be great, then make the effort.
