Hey guys! I just made a similar thread to this over in the AP Sciences forum for AP Bio. I’m taking the 2012 APUSH exam, and I’m a real visual learner. Similarly, I can recall information through the use of acronyms, patterns, and similar tricks. I figured that I’m not the only learner/studier like this, so I created this forum so we can all share and benefit from our memorization tricks!

One that I particularly like is the Curse of Tippecanoe. This one is rather well-known, but it basically helps you remember which presidents were elected in the years between 1840 and 1980, as well as that they all died in office. All of the presidents that were elected in a year ending in 0 in this time period (every twenty years) died in office.

1840 - William Henry Harrison
1860 - Abraham Lincoln
1880 - James A. Garfield
1900 - William McKinley
1920 - Warren G. Harding
1940 - Franklin D. Rooosevelt (FDR!)
1960 - John F. Kennedy (JFK)

1980’s Ronald Reagan and 200’s G. Bush both survived assassination attempts. Neat, eh? Share your memorization tricks and tips as well!!
