Sharing Scholarships with Friends

So, I was curious about other people's opinions about scholarships and whether you tell your friends about the one's you plan on doing. In my opinion, I choose not to share them because I have spent my time researching about them and then my friends don't bother to take the time to look for them themselves and want me to just hand over the information. I also feel like it just adds to the competition. Is that selfish or just playing smart?

Strange post for the first one. Might want to post in High School forum.

I’m the exact same way. They could find them if they wanted. It’s definitely not selfish, at least in my opinion.

From a parent’s perspective…my daughter played things pretty close to her chest – both schools she was applying to/auditioning for and the scholarships she was working on. When people asked, she just told them “we’ll all know by May 1st!” and moved on to another subject. Selfish? No. The scholarship info IS out there, and if people spend the time to research it, that’s their business. Polite but evasive is a good way to play it. Friend: What scholarships are your applying for? You: Oh…I’m still looking at a bunch of them. You could point them toward Fastweb or other scholarship sites, or suggest they check their college websites, if you, like me, are a helpful person by nature. Good luck, and I hope you receive every scholarship that works for you!
