^good job owning the guy that posted right above you...

I told you she'd get in somewhere. Be optimistic! LAWL.

UIUC a match??? Umm.. No, its average ACT is 29 and it has 70% in top ten percent of class. It is not even close to a match.

She's really excited about Purdue, but is still anxiously awaiting UIUC.

She really wants to go there, but her chances are so low. December 12th is getting closer though...

Her GPA is pretty low . . I don't think she's going to get into any especially with the ACT score.

She was rejected from UW-Madison Today.

Wow, I'm surprised she even got into Purdue. But congratulations to her.

Did she do anything particularly amazing to do so like GREAT essays?

Well, her essays (atleast the ones she's showed me,) have been "average."

The typical: "I want to go to (insert university name here) because I am a very diverse person who wants to attend a very diverse campus, such as (university). The first time I visited I knew I belonged here. I will bring blah blah..."

Purdue is really easy. I wasn't that surprised.

Accepted to Moorhead Saturday, Rejected from Madison this morning, after some confusion from a few weeks ago. No tears.

Do you think she'll get into anywhere else on the list?

EDIT: She applied to Indiana University.

Indiana is a low reach/high match... 50/50 chances

The only school she will get into will be Minnesota State.

LOL @ legacy at UCI. HAHA its not a private

UC admissions don't count legacy.

Purdue & Moorehead are likely to be her only choices from the original list. The biggest difficulty for your sister is her class rank in the bottom half of her class coupled with a 21 ACT which is equivalent to a 990/1600 SAT. The Univ. of Kansas may be a great option for her. Also check out the Univ. of Nebraska.

UF very doubtful. In the past year or so, we're watching tons of applicants with much higher qualifications than hers be turned down. If you look at UF's data sets, she's not really in the ballpark for admittance. Sorry :(

zebes

I live in MN too, and you can get into any state school I believe if you get at least 21 on your ACT and didn't like fail in HS, MN Moorhead is pretty safe.

Rejected from U Washington and Indiana last week. She took the ACT again and got a 25.

UIUC.. decisions in 4 days.. I'm nervous as hell for her, even though it's unlikely...

Encourage her not to apply to UNC and Duke. UNC rarely admits instate students, much less OOS with stats as low as hers (and those are usually legacy or athletes). The application is also horribly expensive and time consuming. As an out of state student chances are close to nil for either.

Moorehead is the only college she will get into. I hate to be so negative, but she applied to good schools w/ bad stats.

She's going to Purdue. The decision has been made. She's still recovering from her UIUC rejection, but she's discovering great things about Purdue.
