"She's one of the most quiet students..." PROBLEM?!

One of my teachers (supplementary recommendation) wrote something along the lines of that, but made an effort to say that that didn't interfere really with anything, that I interact great with others, that I'm unafraid to take on the attention, and that it was more of my reserved nature--she made no mention of participation in critiques or anything. I don't think she clarified that this was only because I'm a more reserved, quiet-type person, not someone who's afraid to speak up. She did, though, say that it was a bit hard to get to know me because of this.

However, my other academic teachers are writing about how I'm a key participant in discussions in class and am a big leader in school clubs and do have a great personality (not that that teacher said I didn't.)

Will colleges think of me as a mute/socially awkward person or something? I mean my other teachers are going to write a lot on how I'm not afraid to say something controversial in class and how I pretty much lead a lot of the class's discussion. Is this "discrepancy" going to be a big red flag, especially if I'm aiming for the Ivies?

bump! 10char

I think I have a similar situation… I don’t talk in english and latin, but talk a lot in science
Since the two of three recs are coming from english and latin and one from science. I’m afraid that they are going to say two opposite things

It just sounds like the teacher who described you as quiet doesn’t know you as well as the other teachers do. I don’t see the recc as being a problem.

Given that it’s supplementary, I would not send it. Top colleges want ‘out there’ students.

I agree with hmom5 that if its not a required recc, don’t send it.
