Shipman scholarship

Hi!
I was admitted to UMich COE early this year, and have started to look forward to merit scholarships.

Does anyone know the profile of a typical Shipman Scholar? I just want to get a sense of how much hope to have :smile: Also, do we think the results will be out in the next ~20 days?

Notifications are coming out February 13. There is a shipman website, https://shipmansociety.com/

There is no typical profile. The general idea is you did well in school, and went above and beyond in extracurricular activities. ACT and GPA come into consideration, but plenty of 4.0 36 ppl didn’t receive shipman. Good luck!

Not to burst bubbles but you have to be realistic about it. LESS than 5% of admitted students get ANY type of merit aid from UM. It’s extremely rare and I would not depend on it. Aggressively pursue as many private scholarships as you can and don’t rely on anything from UM. You will however, depending on your family’s financial situation, have a good chance of getting a UM Grant though.

@DBY2017 Of course! You are certainly right :smile: Didn’t mean to imply that I thought it was likely or anything like that. Just want to keep track of when everything is announced, and be on the lookout in case!

With you on this - it’s a LONGGGGG shot, but it’s nice to know when it’s definitely not an option - let me know if you hear anything about nominations.

@ganggang2020 I didn’t see anything on site saying 2/13?

I’m a current member of the shipman society, the website is just for incoming freshman to get to know members so we don’t publish other info @wkknc5

Anybody recieved news about the Shipman by now?

I was wondering the samething

@ganggang2020 did results come out already?
