So, I’m about to go into my first year of college and I have flat feet. I wwnt to the podiatrist today and he said I have plantar fasciitis. So, now many of my cutest shoes can’t be worn anymore. I’m hitting the challenge of finding some good shoes for my feet that will keep them comfortable walking around campus and are cute. I don’t want to look like my grandma, I still wanna be cute but I don’t want my feet to hurt for sure. I’m going to be fitted for orthotics soon, but my doc still said no keys, no converse, none of that. He said the orthotic would help but the shoe is already flat. So, I’m on the hunt for some cute shoes that will keep me in comfort. I just bought my first pair of chadors, but I don’t know if I need to go back to the store and see if they have wide or something. Usually I wear narrow shoes, but my feet spill over the edge on the sides of the chaos when I step because I have flat feet, they are comfy in every regard but that. Should I buy wide, or is there a specific model of chaos and style I should be looking at? (Just to clarify, the shoe discussion is not limited to just Chacos) thanks to anyone who contributes! You are appreciated!
Well…I think you should wait to buy shoes until you have the orthotics. The orthotics change how shoes fit. Wearing the orthotics is important because plantar fasciitis can cause quite a bit of discomfort. Wear the orthotics when you walk long distances especially.
I would also suggest going to an old fashioned shoe store where they carry lots of widths, measure your feet and are knowledgeable about feet. We have such a store in Austin called Karvel.
