Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Actually my advice is to apply to LOTS of schools, particularly reasonable reaches. You hedge your bet much better that way. I thought I didn’t apply to enough reaches and while I got into a great school (Columbia), it wasn’t for me. I think had I sent out some more applications (namely to Amherst, Dartmouth, Penn, Williams) I would have had a better set of top choices. Luckily I did very well in the transfer process and I got to choose between schools I really loved.

So do you think my current list has some “reasonable reach” schools mixed in? Would it be overboard to add more schools? What kind of GPA did you have coming out of Columbia (or another top-university if someone else responds to this thread)? I’ve been reading that 3.5 is the “magic GPA” to transfer from one top school to another, but that seems kind of low.

Keep in mind I’m already accepted to Cornell as a GT, so it’s not as if I don’t have anywhere to go. Also, now that I got a bunch of grades back, it’s looking like I’ll be running about a 3.7 GPA.

Sorry, I feel like I keep asking the same questions. I only repeat myself because these questions remain unanswered.

bump (again)

(and again…)

i’m really kind of lost… of the hundreds of people who have looked at this thread, no one has an answer, idea, or opinion?
