Should I appeal my college admission if I have Dyscalculia?

Hello,

I was recently admitted " conditionally" to university, but my second semester grades are sort of weak. I managed to get a 3.0 GPA and what really killed my GPA was my math class. I took my final and my overall grade is a D.

I have always stuggled with math ever since I was in 3nd grade. For quite a long time I've felt stupid when it comes to math. Most of my tests including my SAT and college placement exam show a pattern.

Despite my math problems, my other core classes are strong. I passed my AP Gov and Econ class with flying colors, and any class that did not involve math was terrific. I was hoping that my college wouldnt hold my math grade personally, due to my other class grades, but I talked to a SFSU rep and he said for sure my admission would be canceled.

With this being said, I wanted to find out if there was anything I could do...I went to my local community college and found out they offer a test to see if you are dyslexic or have dyscalculia. I also researched about dyscalculia, and alot of the symptoms really connect with me ....

If I take this test, and it proves that I do have dyscalculia, should I show this to my college? And if so, should I appeal my denied admission?

Thank you for your help~

Get yourself tested. You need this information no matter where you go to college.

Once you have your results, contact SFSU about it. They may be able to alter their decision.
