Should I apply EA? Please help me!

There are three schools which I can apply early action to. I need some help though. I have above average test scores and excellent grades, GPA, and rank. The schools which I'd be applying EA to are not at the very top of my list, so I'd be applying early action just so I could see if I am excepted early on. Since I am not the most competitively categorized student (a 27 on my act, but excellent grades, GPA, etc.) should I just apply regular decision? I really need some advice. Please help! Thanks.

Any thoughts?

Since EA is nonbinding, just go ahead and do it. It won’t hurt and will probably increase your chances of admission over RD.
(By the way, “excepted” should be “accepted.” I can be a grammer nut sometimes.)

Darn auto-correct haha

I can be a bit of a *grammar nut myself, ReesesPieces :)

OP - Go ahead and apply Early Action. What have you got to lose?

I might do better on my SAT and if I did I wouldn’t be able to apply using my best scores.

I am in a similar predicament. What schools are you applying EA to? And are you taking the ACT in Sept/Oct? I would sign up or those ASAP and see how you do. In the meantime, start filling out the supplements/essays for your EA schools. Can’t hurt, as everyone says.

I’m applying to Northeastern, Dickinson, and UMass as EA. I am mainly worried about Northeastern and Dickinson because of my ok ACT score. I’m taking the ACT in September and the SAT in October. If I do well on the SAT, I still won’t have enough time to submit SAT subject tests which I would have to take in November. Would I possibly be able to submit SAT subject tests to the EA schools if I took the subject tests in November?

I’m applying to Northeastern too! However, I am focusing on just the ACT (I already took the SAT twice and didn’t do as well as my first ACT). Do you know which is your strength? If so, I’d take just one. For example, with the ACT, I’ll have two chances (Sep and Oct) to bring it up. Whichever score is better (SAT/ACT) maybe take those only during Sep/Oct.

For the schools specifically, it depends on their deadlines… Check out the websites for each and when the latest date is that they’ll accept scores.

I haven’t taken the SAT so I have no idea… Northeastern doesn’t require subject tests, correct?

Hello! I was actually looking at the Northwestern website today, and it says they recommend at least two SAT subject tests. I’m currently a high school junior so I haven’t taken any of the official standardized tests yet, but I am planning on taking at least a few of those subject tests.

Northwestern or Northeastern? Because I’m applying to Northeastern

Go to admissions on the Northeastern website. Read and learn about the requirements. My recommendation is to just take them anyway. Many recommend or ‘suggest’ them so might as well. It also shows your strengths if you do well.
