Should I apply EA?

Do you think I should I apply Early Action?

Female, Mexican-American

Major: Pre-med, (not sure which major)

GPA: 3.95 UW

Rank: school doesn’t officially rank... pretty sure I’d be 4 or 5/85

SAT: 2050 (M 670, CR 670, W 710), will retake in the October... 2100+ is easily attainable (I didn’t study for the first one)

Courseload: previous school offered no APs, however I’ve taken the hardest courseload available. (All A’s for 3 years, except one B+ last semester in Physics)

Essay: already wrote one (for the common app), I think it highlights my diverse background... English teacher said it was “exceptional”

Recommendation: Should be outstanding.

ECs:
--I play(ed) three varsity sports... (years total: softball – 10 years, tennis- 10 years, basketball- 3 years),
--played the clarinet for almost 5 years,
--am in NHS,
--am actively involved in my church group (including 400+ hours service hours/leadership training [to teach younger kids]),
--I baby-sit all the time.
--I’ll be “Editor-in-Chief” or “Managing Editor” of the school newspaper next year.
--this summer: Vanderbilt Pre-College PAVE. 6-weeks, science and technology program: (Vector Mechanics & Calculus/MATLAB, C & C++/Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Business)

Awards: National Hispanic Scholar (I’m a nominee), Venture Scholar, ‘High Honor Roll’ every year, etc.

Hook?: I have lived in 3 states and 3 countries (I currently live overseas-- but I'm a US Citizen, so I'm not considered international)

That is a tough one! I am very cautious with EA, and because of that I lean towards no. However, I don't think you would hurt yourself if you did apply EA. The best thing you can do is ask admissions with the same info you gave us; they will give you an honest assessment. Good luck!
