TL;DR, I am a good student and I want to know if I should still apply early action with a bad SAT score (1420).
I’m a rising senior and I’m wondering if I should apply Early Action to Stanford.
Currently I have 4.0 gpa (unweighted) and 4.163 gpa (weighted). My GPA is lower because my school doesn’t offer a lot of APs (I know that Stanford accounts for that).
I have a lot of extracurriculars like I am the president of NHS at my school and I do debate and bunch of other stuff.
I have gone to nationals for Speech and Debate and placed 16th in Java Programming in the National Tournament of Business Professionals of America (keep in mind I’m from Idaho, so the competition is a lot less)
My passion is computer science and I’ve attended computer science camps at Stanford, Harvard, and soon Columbia (It’s a lot easier to get into the summer courses than the schools).
Stanford is my dream school and I’ve wanted to go there since I was little.
My main concern is my SAT. It is incredibly low for the average SAT. Currently, the highest score I’ve gotten is 1390 and with super score the highest is 1420. These are bad and I know they are for Stanford.
I won’t be able to take another SAT before the Early Action deadline, so 1420 will be the score I am applying with. Should I wait for regular decision to apply or still apply early action?
I’ve read multiple pages about how a higher selection of applicants in the Early Action pool are admitted, but I’ve also seen that many people recommend that you wait to apply regular decision if your SAT isn’t good.
The thing I’m unsure of is that if I apply early action will they reject or defer me? and if they defer me will they consider my new SAT scores in regular decision?
