Should I apply early action?

Two colleges that I'm applying to can be applied early action. Should I apply early action to them, even though my grades might not be as good as the ones from junior year? Also, I'll be involved in 2 more extracurricular activities this year. I don't know what to do.

And if I'm deferred to regular decision, can I send changes to the colleges or will the same information from the early action application be used for regular decision?

if you think your application sitll has room for imporvement wait until RD. If you dont' think it'll make THAT much of a difference, apply EA. However, EA doesn't usually give as much advantage as ED, if any at all, so keep that in mind.

Does having so-so senior grades have a big impact on applications if I had great 9th to 11th grade grades?

You have it backwards. If your senior grades are so-so, you should definitely apply EA, because the admissions officers won't see any of those grades before their decision.

If you are deferred to the RD round, your school will send in your first semester senior grades and you can send a brief letter adding new information that you think is important to your application.
