should i apply early decision to Stanford?

I'm hispanic

i will have a 3.89 gpa at the early decision deadline, but if i wait until the regular decision deadline i will have a 3.9.

ACT- 36
SAT- 2300

If you can really improve your credential in the first quarter of senior, then you should. The main reason is the rejection rate at SCEA is very high. Nevertheless, if there is nothing else other than a 0.01 increase in GPA, you probably should try SCEA. Did you take SAT2?

S is REA, not ED, so you don’t have to commit if accepted.

S defers relatively few EA applicants, preferring to give an immediate yea or nay. So if you will have substantial improvements in the first half of sr year, you may want to consider waiting for RD (I don’t think a 0.01 gpa change would be considered substantial).

S is a reasonable reach to have on your list.
