I haven't heard any decision from the university yet. They said they will send out decision letters on the first week of April. But the deadline for applying for financial aid is March 1st. Should I apply anyway even though I haven't received any decision and the deadline has passed?

Sir, it’s too late now. A deadline is a deadline. FAFSA is meant for you to apply early. EVERYONE applies it before the admission results, you are supposed to. This is already about the time that most schools are making financial aid decision.

I would, because you can still receive different grants available. I go to college in Southern California and The March 1 deadline was first priority. But I believe May 1 is final. Im not saying they are the same, but maybe that will give you some insight… Or you could call the University you hope to go to and ask them?

Thanks for the inputs. I’ll call the university to find out. Its really surprising to having find out the deadline for Fall semester is that early.

I hope you can still get something out of it. Financing colleges these days are getting harder. As for financial aid deadline, I guess they need the time to review it to send out the FA before May 1st. One school I applied even had Feb 1st as deadline.

@Lynacc Its actually not too late to apply for FAFSA, I just sent my application in today and their website and a woman I talked to said that the suggested date at which you file for FAFSA is march 1st but you can still apply anytime after, you may not get as much money as if you submitted it before March 1st but you still qualify

@senior1995: yeah I called them and they said for transfer applicants, its not yet too late to apply. But I’m not sure if I’ll be eligible for any scholarship at all.
