Should I Apply for Financial Aid???

Hello, I am thinking of going into the ivy schools, mainly Northwestern, Cornell or Yale. I am applying as an international student from Canada. I just received an email from Northwestern stating that grants for international students are tough. My question is should I still apply for financial aid as an international student? Will this in any way jeopardize my application? For example, if the university finds out that I am in need of a large amount of money to go to college will they not accept me? Thanks so much for taking to time to read this; I really appreciated it!

Do you need financial aid? If so, apply for it, even if it does affect your chances for admission. What good will it do you to get into a school if you can't afford to go there?

If you need financial aid, you need to apply for it. If you don't, you won't be able to attend anyway, because you won't be able to afford it. If you don't have a dire financial need and that's why you're debating whether or not to apply, I would say just apply for it. Since -- in that situation -- you need wouldn't be huge, I don't think it would jeopardize your application.

Good luck!

But the answer is yes, at the vast majority of schools, because they are not need blind for internationals, it will be much harder to get in asking for aid.

Bottom line...if you need aid, apply for it. It will do you no good to be accepted somewhere with no ability to pay the bill.
