I've already started my application but I'm not too sure about applying still because I've heard how difficult it is to become a finalist.
So about me: I'm currently enrolled in 6 AP classes (my school only has 6 periods) and I'm in the top ten percent of my grade. I scored a 32 on the ACT and was one question away from a perfect score on the science section. I earned a 1980 on my SAT with a 680 in English, a 690 in math, and a 610 in writing. My SAT II scores are Literature (700), Math II (690), and Molecular Biology (540).
My AP test scores are English Language (4), Euro (4), APUSH (3), Biology (3), and Chemistry (1), though I self studied chem and am retaking it this year, for a total of 8 AP tests this year and a grand total of 12.
My annual income is approximately $10,000 and my hardships so to speak are mostly depression, two family members with cancer, one parent dead, and the other incarcerated.
I believe that I compose fairly efficient essays, and I am regarded as one of the strongest writers of my school and district.
As in terms of extracurriculars, my listed ones are as follows: Founding member and treasurer of the Physical Science club, treasurer of my school's GSA, President of Literary Society for three years, member of Key Club doing 50+ hours of community service, earned a Quill & Scroll award from journalism club and was an editor for my school's newspaper, and a member of FBLA who made it to state last year.
I am not sure if this will be enough. What are your thoughts?
