Should I apply SCEA, RD or at all?

Hey all! Wondering if it's worth applying to Yale. I absolutely love the school and would be so thrilled to go. However, I don't want to put hours and money into an application if I don't have a shot. Would applying SCEA increase my chances? Or should I go with RD?

Also, I kind of have a hook in that I grew up overseas. I went to an International School in Trinidad and Tobago for most of my life. Wrote Commonapp essay over this and the diversity I grew up around.

Sorry it's so long, but any input would be appreciated!

I think you should apply; you’re definitely in the mix. But, FYI - growing up overseas is not considered a hook.

You should definitely apply. SCEA will not increase your chances, however, so only do this if you’re dying to have a response by December.

Applying EA somewhere else might boost your chances. You could then still apply RD to Yale. Even though the SCEA admit rate is double the RD rate, the percentages become much more similar when you adjust for athletes, legacies, etc.
