I've heard that the psychology major is pretty huge and difficult to get into. I want to major in psych, but I also really want to get into Santa Cruz and don't want that affecting my admission. I have fairly good grades; 4.1 GPA, 28 on the ACT (though I took it again last month and am waiting for my new scores), etc. etc. Would it be better for me to apply undeclared to not risk it or to apply directly as a psych major?

I would call the school and see how easy it is to change your Undeclared Major to Psych once you are accepted. The schools are pretty savvy about students declaring an easy major to get in then changing it later.
