I have a 3.9/4.0 gpa unweighted (my school is terrible at officially deeming you a gpa) and am in the top 10% of my class. I’ve been in student council all 4 years, was junior class VP and senior class President, and have been a cheerleading captain all possible years. I have multiple other leadership positions and extracurriculars including volunteerism.
Should I apply? I just don’t want to waste my time writing 3 essays if I’m not going to make it in.
Only 10% make it but it’s very prestigious and you have all kinds of opportunities other Penn state students can’t have at all. Not to mention the Schreyer freshman dorms are nice.
Your course rigor (3.9 in all regular courses or will you have 15+ clasees at honors or AP level by graduation?), your essays and letter of recommendation will play a major role. Your major also (what are you applying for?)
So odds are against you making it simply due to selectivity but if you do make it (and nothing you said indicates you’re in qualified so you may) it’d be totally worth it.
