do you think i have a better shot at uchicago than at duke? i'm also considering replacing duke with uc-berkely. where do you think i have the best shot?
thanks!

ps-- i'm in-state for duke, i don't know how much that helps...

Your GPA is a little low for Duke RD, even if you are in-state, so I would suggest U of Chicago. I think you have a better shot there. Unless you live in CA, it might be hard for UC-Berkeley.

Duke and UChicago have very different cultures. In fact Chicago is radically different from any other school on your list. You might give this fact some weight in making your decision.
UC-Berkeley is out of reach for OOS applicants, except for the ones who can get into schools like HYP.

An Asian with that sort of GPA is a big turn off for Duke adcoms- when they hear Asian they think 3.8+ GPA, 2200+ SAT scores, etc.
So i say just stick to UChicago and save your $65

If you believe your essays are really great, then U Chicago is probably the best choice, since they take those things into account much more than others. Otherwise, I would say you have a solid chance at UVA, Wake, NYU, Colgate, UNC, and Carnegie Mellon while the rest will be much more difficult (20%).

Your goal should not be to get into the most prestigious school possible, and I agree with greennblue that based on the other schools on your list, I don’t think Chicago will appeal to you that much. Considering that you want to study business and Chicago doesn’t have a business major, I don’t really see why you would want to attend.

Maybe consider adding another lower match with a business school? Maybe Smith at Maryland, just to round out UVA and UNC?

I think that because you are in-state, you will most likely get into UNC. You fit the criteria and you’re in-state. If you want to definitely pursue undergraduate business, than prob. not U of Chicago. But, if you plan on getting an MBA, attending U of Chicago would aid in getting into Booth after college.

You have the best changes at U of Chicago, but if it isn’t the right school for what you want to pursue during your undergraduate studies, than apply to Duke or UC-Berkeley, both of which are high reaches.
