My biggest question:::::

Do the colleges mentioned above think bad about B+s?
Do they care about transcript, when i am top of the class?

Should I apply? Or just give up.

Thanks for reading such a long post and I wish you guys good luck for your applications!!

As far as Cambridge and Oxford go, give up on one of those dreams. You can only apply to one or the other, not both.
Since I started talking about Oxbridge, I’ll just keep going with that. It’s all about the subject for which you’re applying, and it’s all about academics. If you’re applying for Maths, they won’t care about your German and US History 800s. They won’t care about your grades in any classes that are not about math. In general, they don’t really care about your extra curriculars, but if they’re in the subject for which you’re applying, they matter a bit. Or if you’re a really good musician and you could be an Organ Scholar, but that’s about it.
Remember to do well in your interview(s), make your personal statement sound like your subject is your life and read a lot about your subject, and try not to get pooled. Every Cambridge applicant I’ve seen around here this year was pooled. It sucks.
Oh, and Oxford is allegedly more into foreigners and Americans than Cambridge.

HYP have ridiculously low acceptance rates. I read through the Yale SCEA thread last night for some reason and saw people deferred with stats like yours, and in the Stanford SCEA thread, some even rejected. So it’s hard to say. Have good essays, try to stand out. UPenn (unless it’s Wharton), Georgetown, and Carnegie Mellon would all be much more likely to happen.

If I were you, I would apply. Your transcript won’t be the best in the pile of applications, but at the same time, there are only about 300 2400 scorers in the world and you have really great ECs so you don’t look like an academic grind.

Dont bother with Harvard for undergrad education. My brother is a prof there and says all classes are taought by ta’s. Harvard is publish or perish and that is their focus-- he wouldnt send his own kids there!

thanks guys! great help!
@millencad: i precisely know what you are talking about … XD is it christiansoldier? he had some great stats.

wilners: never knew that. maybe i will aply for grad schools

I think you should certainly apply. Good test scores, and some B+'s will not kill your chances if you write good essays and get good recommendations.

yo man i am not ■■■■■■■■.
if you look at my transcript though, it is NOT all As. It is mostly like all a-s plus some b+s.

what part do you think i am ■■■■■■■■?

p.s is ■■■■■■■■ like giving like really hard stats to intimidate others who apply??

thanks Renaissance!!! its just that i am korean, and there are so many koreans who apply with a gpa U.W of 4.0.

you know, its nice to see a student council president who has actually done stuff, rather than just use it to pad the resume. I think if you write solid essays that prove your leadership ability, Harvard will probably want you (they like people who will potentially get to high places).

yep yep MeSsIaH. thank you so much for pointin that out man… i ll prob add an additional resume, highlighting the important stuff that my administration accomplished. i am glad people know that!

good luck on your apps!

By the way, I hope “viktorialucas” isn’t your real name. Just putting that out there.

hi darkblade, thx! im a guy, and this is sylvia plaths pen name

Wilners- you’re incorect about TFs teaching classes. They sometimes lead sections, but profs give the lectures, and teach seminars.

u should, because even if you got rejected, you can still say to people: “hey! I applied to Harvard! But they didn’t accept me because I’m too good for them!”

thank you! i dont know why so many people are mean to you! you seem such a nice person.

hmm… but they accused you of ■■■■■■■■. i think you have great accomplishments, but in an ivy setting, no one can be sure.

lol they don’t know what they talking about. Do you see any trollish quality in my post in this thread?

anacrusis is a ■■■■■. Just saying. She said she got a 4.6/35 in a Harvard thread and then for Tulane, she said she had a 3.5/29. And then she said that she was part of Young Republicans and Young Democrats. Which is literally impossible. No school will let you do that. And then there’s a nice list of fake extracurriculars, such as her playing football with boys, tennis, and cross country. Those sports are all the same season, and there’s no way that she could have played all of them due to restrictions based on how much time she can actually practice and such.

So she literally can’t exist. I’m not saying this because I doubt her stats because they are too good. I’m saying it because there’s no way.
