Should I apply?

So I am interested in applying to MS in FE/ Fin. Math programs.

I have a 3.8 GPA
700V 700Q on the GRE

I'm kind of upset with my Quant Score. I'm one of the top math students in my class, so I should be able to obtain some good recommendations.

But would my GRE score essentially block me from being admitted?

It depends a lot on the school - I would think that a 700Q would be worrying for top-tier masters programs, but you have a strong GPA and they might let it slide. After all, anyone can have a bad day. I think if the rest of your App is strong they would let you in, but you might want to contact the departments to which you are applying and see if they either have releasable cutoff scores, or some measure of the GPA and GRE scores of admitted applicants. In the first case you would have an immediate answer - “we require a 720Q at an absolute minimum!” - in the second case you can infer - “they let in no one with a score below 750, and the average GPA is 3.75!”

So the schools i am thinking of applying to are,

Fordham GBA
GaTech
RPI
NYU
NYU Poly
Columbia engineering
Columbia A and S
Baruch
Boston
GWU(MA in econ)
Johns Hopkins
CMU

Would I have a reasonable shot of making into ANY of those schools? Or would u strongly suggest that i retake the exam?
