should i ask professor to bump my grade up

A written record if the reaction is negative.

My general principle is, don’t assume.

There’s an easy way around that, Vctory. If you get the answer you want, ask the professor/TA to put it in an email so you both remember later.
I gladly do this for my students after we talk and agree on something.

@romanigypsyeyes - asking for future reference, if you don’t mind - but as a student, how would one phrase that? “Could you email me what we just agreed on?” or how?

Hmm… that’s a good question. The professors on this thread might want to weigh in as I have a different perspective coming from a GSI (TA). Normally, I just ask my students before they leave if they want me to email them a confirmation.

I guess you can do one of two things. The first is afterwards sending a follow-up email thanking the instructor for his/her time and just saying something like “Just so I understood correctly, I have until xxx to make up assignment xxx.” if it were an extension. Rearrange as needed. The other thing would be to yes, just ask them. The worst that could happen is they could say no. Instructors don’t like going back on their word any more than students want them to, but they’re busy people and this can easily slip their mind. IMO, I haven’t really encountered any instructors that would have an issue with this.

@Vtory, I only skimmed through your post. Did it work for you? Did you get an A+?
