I’M SO STRESSED OUT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE MY FINALS TEST SCORES JUST CAME OUT RIGHT NOW AND I HAVE AN 89.91% IN HONORS CHEMISTRY!! SHE DOESN’T ROUND AND I REALLY WANTEd an A sorry for shouting I’m just really scared!! Should I ask her if there is anything I could do?? If so then what’s a good way to do it??
“Really wanting an A” doesn’t make a bit of difference. I wouldn’t ask her if I were you. If you do, ask politely ONCE and drop it if she says no. And don’t tell her, “I really want an A!!!”
Most teachers I know would round up anything 89.5+ (even the teachers who claimed not to do rounding). I’d ask in a very polite way, not trying to sound like you’re whining for an A. Perhaps ask if there’s anything you could do in return for the bump, like an extra assignment, test corrections or something etc. I think it shouldn’t be too hard considering it’s .09%, but hey all teachers are different.
What’s she going to do? You said she doesn’t round.
It’s worth a shot. Try using an emotional appeal
Instead of ask her to “give” you a grade bump, ask if there is any extra credit you can do to “earn” a grade bump.
What the hell right why not just explain to her what’s been going on int our life. Don’t bore her but tell her how hard you’ve been working in their class and go with that. BUT DO NOT BEG
Only ask her if you’ve been working really hard. Teachers know the students who work really hard at improving their grades. She’ll probably be more receptive if she sees that you’re a had worker. Ask her politely, in a non-whiny way. Also, remember that she’s not required to bump you, so if she doesn’t you just have to live with that.
If you ask, ask politely, don’t whine and don’t beg and accept no as an answer. FWIW my H is a teacher and he rounds ONLY if the homework grade is strong. In other words, if the student has been working hard and turning in assignments he’ll give them the bump. If they don’t care enough about the class to do the work, then no bump…Hopefully, if you’ve proven yourself, you may get a break. But if you don’t, it’s not the end of the world. Do better next semester and in all your classes. A B+ is a very respectable grade.
