I applied to the University of South Carolina, and it is probably my favorite school. I applied very early in August. Right now, a lot of my friends are receiving emails from South Carolina saying how much they would like them to apply and saying that they could be awarded significant scholarships. I have very similar stats to all of these friends, but I have received nothing. Maybe it is because I have already applied? I am probably reading too much into this, but I really really want to go there. What do you guys think?
It sounds like the emails that your friends are receiving are only because U.South Carolina is trying to get more applications. Since you have already applied, it sounds like their computer systems are smart enough to know not to bug you to apply again.
I would not give it a second thought. You’ve already applied and thus, they don’t need to encourage you to apply.
Have you checked (I assume there is a portal) to make sure all of the components of your application have been received?
@intparent Everything has been received.
Then I’d just ignore it as best you can.
If there are specific scholarships that interest you, now is a good time to review requirements that might go beyond the basic application package…things like additional essays or recommendations or even just clicking a checkbox that says ‘yes, I want to be considered’. There might not be anything more to do but it doesn’t hurt to double check.
Recall that you have high stats so just ignore general email marketing as that is all it is - these friends likely checked boxes when signing up for standardized tests and get bombarded with emails from many schools.
