Should I be enjoying high school?

I'm a sophomore, and stressing out... badly.

My current GPA is a 3.8. I'm taking AP Physics B, and it's really killing me. I have a D, and I might get a C for the first quarter. I don't understand half the material. I have four tests this week, two of which are tomorrow, and I haven't even started studying for them (they're somewhat easy, but will take time - AP Human Geo and Chemistry Honors). Back to physics, I'm thinking about dropping the class. I don't know whether to sacrifice my fun high school experience for getting an C in physics, or to not have a life and get an A. I'm really confused.

I want to go to Princeton, but that doesn't look likely at all at this rate. My second choice is Duke, but not sure if I have any chances at that either.

So should I drop the class or no?

We can’t answer that for you. Do you feel that the hard-work you’ll be putting into the class, will eventually pay off? Yes? Then stop being lazy, and get to work. Success isn’t cheap. No? Then drop the class, since the effort is not worth the prize.

Since you’re a sophomore and are already in Honors Chem, drop Physics. You are basically going to ruin your chances for college if you have a C as your final grade for a class. It’s really not worth it to sacrifice your sanity for Physics, especially since you already have another science going for you.
I had to drop Physics this year for the same reason, and I’m a junior. So yes, think about it :)

Could you drop it down to regular Physics? I think the top colleges want to see Chemistry and Physics in 10th grade.

^I don’t think this is true…

My goodness… AP Physics in soph year is like writing a suicide note for yourself.

Find a reasonable balance- doing AP Chem in lieu is still agonizing, but much much more reasonable than doubling up both of them.

Soph and Sr years are suppossed to be the fun ones while jr is the AP laden year. If you start that ambitiously, I applaud you, but don’t end up like one of ‘them’.
