I'm really, really ridiculously attractive. Also, I've always wanted to try to get into MIT, but my application fees are getting to be a burden, so i'm trying to weed out some schools i have no chances at. It seems that MIT is at the top of the list of schools i won't get into.

SAT: 2280 (750CR, 730M, 800W)
ACT: 33
SAT II: 720 Chem, 800 Math 2

more of an athlete/musician than typical MIT-grade math geek.
No significant ECs in math or science; i'm from rural Indiana, not too many opportunities present themselves.

It never hurts to apply. I am from rural Indiana too, and I agree that there aren’t many opportunities here but I think that they understand. Where are you from in Indiana?

Go hoosiers lol. I think I may be the first person to ever even apply to MIT from my school. Most people at my school have never even heard of MIT.
PS Are you ready for the snowstorm tomorrow?

I doubt that being attractive will get you in, but you should apply anyway! If MIT is a serious possibility (assuming you get in), then go for it. If you’re applying “just to see if you get in,” then save your money. Also, I’m from Northern Kentucky, and we’re expecting a paltry 1-3 inches. I am jealous of your snow. lol

Due to the low number of attractive people at MIT and MIT’s desire for more diversity, I believe that having devastatingly good looks is a hook when applying to the college.

;D

(Don’t be offended, people. I’m only joking. And the reason I’m adding this to the bottom is because CCers generally are not good at catching sarcasm/jokes.)

absolutely. our highest achievement is our “devastating good looks” star, a secret checkbox which automagically enrolls you at MIT as soon as it has been checked.

^WHAT?! My son said there was absolutely no mention of this automagic checkbox on the Applying Sideways blog or any other blog on the website! My son would have checked it if he had known!

Question: He also has “devastating good looks.” Is it too late to fax in a photo and check the automagic box if he missed the checkbox the first time? If his EC made a note of his strikingly good looks following his interview, will THAT count for automatic admission? Or does my son still have to check the box?

Mchris. I agree with the post above. Your app. needs to highlight that checkbox in the instructions or something. My daughter had a real hard time finding it too because on some screens, you have to scroll all the way to the right to see it. I’m just glad that she found it and checked it before hitting that submit button (sml).

We didn’t see the check box either but my son did send in his prom pictures. He also had 10 girls sign (don’t worry it was notarized) a letter attesting to how he is hands down the best looking guy at their school. After he hit submit, we went and ordered the sweatshirt!

I kinda wish you didn’t let this leak MITCHRIS but I understand your effort to be transparent.
