Should I bother applying in a few years?

Hello, I've lurked the forum for a while, I decided to finally join and pose some questions I had.

I'm currently a Sophomore and I wanted to know if approx. 10 AP/H courses by the time of my graduation would be competitive for Stanford. I plan on taking a few courses at a local college in order to make more room for the majority of APs available at my school. Also my current ECs aren't all that great, I've only done around 5 clubs in the past two year, but I hope to do a few more within the next 2 years. I've also seen that many people applying to Stanford have well over 250 hours of community service! Is that something I should be asking my guidance counselor for opportunities regarding? Oh yeah, also should I start taking AP/H English courses again? I dropped the courses I was in, as I had a strong distaste for them.

I really need some serious guidance here :P, also should I be taking the SAT, ACT and PSAT, or can I just take the SAT and do really well?

EDIT: How many letters of recommendation should I have?

OP. Stanford does not care how many clubs you are involved in…instead, they would prefer someone who spent all the time with one “real” club who was actively ENGAGED in the club from start to finish going from member to president of club by their senior year…it’s QUALITY not QUANTITY…

…Stanford really does not care whether you do community service or not…performing 250 hours of community service for the wrong reasons is meaningless! Let me enlighten you…there are many “star” students who have basically no/minimal community service hours who get admitted. Many of the top elite recruited athletes…many of the top international/national ranking musicians who are busy performing or competing…many of the young CS/engineering whizzes are too busy creating apps or working for a company…they DO NOT have time for “bogus” community service hours…

How come you can’t edit old posts?
