Could someone tell me how much Stanford values community service ? If so, to what degree ?
Would running a fund raiser concert and playing a lead role in the concert and raising funds for college help any ? Please elaborate.

Community svc is one component. Much like a job flipping burgers. Stanford wants excellence. There’s no formulaic list of ECs and you’re far behind if that’s what you’re doing to get noticed. The ironic thing is that kids who get noticed by HYPS are the kids who aren’t doing anything to get noticed but are just doing excellent and interesting things because that’s who they are.

It’s not what you do, it’s who you are.

Yes, it probably would help. But I hope you would do such a thing because you are genuinely interested in it and not because it will help you get into Stanford.

According to their common data set, they value it below many other things— it is a medium level interest. You can search their common data set to see what they value and how much.

I wouldn’t take the previous post to mean community service isn’t important. No doubt there are many factors such as GPA, SAT, rigor of course load, etc that are more important. I’m willing to bet though that Stanford receives many applicants who can check these boxes. As such, other factors such as community service, become important for the applicant. You’ll pretty much need to nail every factor to make it in Stanford.
