Should I bother auditioning for Carnegie Mellon?

GPA- 3.5
SAT- 1600 (hoping to improve)
Extra Cirriculars: Drama Club, ITS, Concert Choir, Tri-M Honors Music Society, Class Council, Ex-Animo Society
Also, I do volunteer work regularly & have a job

I’m a strong singer/actress, not as strong with dance but still can move well.

Should I bother?

Audition holds more weight than stats and I believe they have taken their dance portion out of the audition process

I imagine you’re interested in CFA’s School of Drama. If that’s the case, your audition trumps everything else, so don’t be overly concerned about your GPA, SAT, clubs, etc. CMU is looking for elite talent. Keep in mind, though, the School of Drama is very selective, the average incoming drama class consists of 30 students (including drama & musical theatre). So make sure you’re considering other options as well. Good luck.

Would you look back and wish you had? I tell my S this, you only live once. I would never want him to look back with regrets. What is the worst thing that can happen? You get to audition at a great school, possibly get some tips from great auditors and then not get in…that’s it. Verses a lifetime of “maybe I could have got into CMU” If its logistically possible…go for it.

They have removed their dance audition which has me slightly peeved but they didn’t ask my opinion lol
