Should I call?

My Admissions Officer emailed me and told me that if he has time, he'll be taking my application before the board today.

Assuming I don't hear anything, would it be improper/unprofessional/unbecoming for me to call (or email?) tomorrow and ask if he was able to take it to the board?

And what exactly can I expect in the next few days? Over the summer, I was told that it was fairly certain that I would get an LOA; since then, I've really strengthened my application and received an LOA from West Point. So, assuming they decide to go with an LOA, could I expect a call from him or just expect to get a letter in the next week or two? If I don't get an LOA, should I expect him to let me know? Last year my BGO called and told me when I got passed over the first time around, but my BGO this year isn't nearly as communicative or responsive, so I'm not banking on that.

Boy, an LOA would be a nice Thanksgiving Day present!!!

[and just for the record, I realize that not getting an LOA is not the end of the world, etc, etc, etc] :)

PS - in retrospect, someone from USMA called me before they even sent the letter to let me know that as soon as they receive my HS transcripts, I would be getting an LOA. I guess what I'm asking is this: is that typical or is it more often left to the discretion of the admissions officer?

In most cases, the Admissions office notifies the MOC of the appointment, allowing them time to contact you (some MOC offices will, some won't, but I believe the courtsey is extended to them), following which you will get an appointment offer in the mail.

Suggest you exercise patience (know that can be a killer!), refrain from speed dialing the academy and let the wheels turn as they must!

Best of luck!

as an "aside," today is service selection day for the Class of 2008 at USNA- the parent's listserv is ablaze with "who got what"...... guess you could say it's the end of a long waiting process! So while I know the "waiting to hear" can be tough, just think about it as "getting prepared for what lies ahead!"

Definetly be patient this early in the game. As much as you would love an LOA now I wouldn't count on it. And don't ever listen to what they tell you about expecting an LOA or not. I don't mean to sound negative but they won't everyone to apply so they are going to promise that a lot.

my mid who received an LOA last fall did not receive a phone call prior.
