Should I cancel my AP?

Hello,

I currently have an AP Euro test scheduled next thursday, and until now was sure about taking it but…

I am not in the best situation now, considering that the only work I have done is read and take notes from the Barrons book and study for the World history test, and haven’t “actively” studied anything (you know, memorizing, getting real classes, etc.).

I have already taken 6 APs total, and am considering taking some of the “easier-to-get-a-five” exams next year to make a total of 8-10, (ex. Comparative Politics, Human geo) since I have taken most of the “core APs” that I need for my goal major, including Lit, Lang, and World history.

So, the reasons to take the Euro test would be:
-the money I paid to college board
-the time and effort I spent studying for this

However, I am already on track toward my goal of about 8-10 APs, and to be honest, I think that I simply do not need an AP euro score. The thing that worries me is that if I fail to get a 5 (which is not unlikely at this point), I will have to make sure to make up for that failure by getting a 5 next year, which is basically a great risk.

the cons of taking it:
-high potential of a 4
-I have a school test during that period (may not be able to do well in it)

After seeing many students simply “not taking” an AP exam by being absent at the testing room, thus canceling it, I am not so sure if I should take this test anymore.

PS: the reason that I am fretting so much over my AP scores & amount is that I am planning to apply for a UK uni, which does not accept GPA, but focuses on APs.

Need some advice here! :frowning:

Are you self studying all these tests? 8-10 AP scores is plenty for any school. There is no point taking an AP test in your senior year as a self-study, becasue your score won’t be back until July, at which point you will already know which college you are going to. I would cancel it, tbh. You won’t get your money back though.

Anyway, I am a little confused. As far as I am aware, most UK unis are happy with 4 and 5 scores. Unless you are talking about Oxbridge, which I don’t know about. So if yiu get a four this year, why would you need a five next year? Makes no sense. No one will ever have to know which AP tests you have taken. All scores are self-reported.

4s and 5s are excellent scores on AP tests, and even if you do poorly, you won’t need to report your score. Since you already paid for the exam (my mom cringes whenever I mention how high it is haha), I think you should take the test! Plus, Lindagaf is right–most UK unis are perfectly all right with 4s and 5s. If you score well, then report it; if not, then don’t!
