I like UW a lot. However with 33ACT and 3.96 GPA I think I might be a statistical fit for the honors program. The problem is I am not sure I am an intellectual fit for it.
I am a very sciency/mathy person. I will be taking minimal humanities courses in college. My goal is to get into the CS department and then proceed to take as many CS electives as possible.
If being a part of the UW Honors program would get in away of that passion and that goal then I would rather not go for it.
I can’t really tell what the UW Honors program stands for or how it would make my UW experience any different.
I do like the apparent emphasis on research and student discussions.
If I apply and then get accepted can I then refuse to be a UW Honors student?
If you are referring to Wisconsin, then you can do as little or as much ch in Honors program as you choose. No downside to applying.
Per another thread by OP it’s U Washington
Computer Science & Engineering is the #1 prospective major for freshmen enrolled in the Honors Program.

Nevertheless, I recommend that you speak with an Honors Program representative about your specific interests and goals. (See answer #24 in the FAQ link above.)
Good luck!
Also note that all students in all colleges at the University of Washington must complete “Areas of Knowledge” requirements:

The Honors Program offers additional courses that satisfy these requirements. Here are the Winter 2017 courses, for example:

Sorry! I need to stop saying UW. As you guessed I was indeed referring to University of Washington, sorry for the confusion.
Thankyou for all the information! That should get me started!
